XTS3000 Different cases???

Post by Chato »

I bought a new case on Ebay for one of my XTS3000's that has been a little roughed-up. It's brand-new, but the flex connector is different from the one I currently have on the radio. The new one has bigger contacts and edge of the plastic housing dosnet fit around the connector on the radios like the old one does. This is not going to work. Anyone know anything about this? I didnt realize there was (at-least) two different versions of flex on these housings.

The P/N on the new case is NTN8273C. The flex cable has this printed on it: 8405353Z04 REV B, on the next line it has: 52822 4997

I guess this ones for sale or trade now...

Take a look at this post, I think it will answer your question.

Additionally, you can remove the top knobs and secure/clear switch, and swap the electronics between housings. As far as I know both older and newer electronics (volume and channel pots, speakers, side connector and ptt/side button flexes) are compatable with both old and new housings. Just make sure you take it nice and slow if you're going to do it.

Yep Marc, that's exactly the same situation. I never realized there were two types. I don't believe I have ever seen a XTS3k that worked with the other, bigger flex connector.

Ya, I guess I'll take akardam's suggestion and attempt a swap-out of flex cables and/or electronics.

Thanks guys...

Get ready to have some fun if your going to swap electronics. It can be done, but take my advice and go slow and dont force anything. Its a real pain in the butt if you ask me. But i would do it again to save money if i had to.
