Help turning off Spectra securenet

Post by Bruce »

I have a VHF spectra that has a fail code of 09/10. It is an ex government radio with a model number of D43KXA7JA7BK. I don't have the Securenet box, and the radio will not let me do anything. I am interested in finding someone who can help me repair this radio. I know that once the box is attached the software can turn off the options that are causing me problems.

Thanks.

Spectra Secure

Post by Hartley »

Hi Bruce,

You are correct, you cannot read that radio in order to disable the External Securenet box (and the 09/10 fail code is the missing ASN).

Two ways out - find someone with an ASN to allow you to read it, or find a codeplug for a matching model number and clone it in. I don't have a codeplug that would work, but I suspect you should be able to shake one out on this board!

I had a VHF Spectra that came out of Govt use. When I powered up it would show the FAIL 09/10. I took to the radio shop where I get my programming done and he just hooked up the control head and CH cable and was able to read it. He turned off the secure option and the FAIL 09/10 went away. He never did hook anything else up to it.

Hi,

Do you have the RSS and the RIB ??? If so, Hook everything up
power up the radio and let it do it self-check. Once it's done, read the
radio with the RSS. Select RADIO WIDE options then tab to SECURENET,
use the up/down arrow key to display "DISABLE". Select F10 to get back
to the main menu, select F8 to program radio. When it comes back up
"SECURENET" will be disabled and the "error" will be gone.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I have the RSS and RIB. Because I don't have the ASN housing, it gives me an error message while reading the radio. I think that I will try to dump a different codepug into the radio. Does anyone have a codeplug for this radio?

Thanks,

Bruce try this it worked for me.

If this is a dash mount radio the control head interface board has to be modified or changed out with one from a radio that was an "X" model. once you change the interface board try again to read the radio. Keep hitting retry a few times if the error pops up. With luck you will be able to read it on the third or fourth try. If it works go in and turn off secure and write back to the radio. After that is should work as a normal spectra. I was able to get the first one read then cloned the rest with no problems.

Also the interface board routes audio through the external ASN box. If no box is attached you will not have audio for either traansmit or recieve. I have looked and cannot find my notes on the mods needed or the part numbers for the correct replacement board, Sorry I could help there but I will keep looking and it I find them I'll send the info on to you.
