Maxtrac 800
Hello all. I have 6 MaxTrac 800. Model Number: D35MQA5GB5BK. All have s/n's close together in the 438ARG1XXX Range. ANYways...I can read the radios just fine in Maxtrac Conventional RSS V5, but cannot read the frequencies at all in the codeplug. (Guessing I need a different RSS? Which RSS do I need for 800 MaxTracs?) Also, what I am trying to do with these is Monitor an 800 MHz Frequency (860.2625) and that's it, nothing elese. (Hoping this is possible. They are the 2-button head with Sys1 Sys2 Sub1 Sub2)
Thanks for any help.

Yes, the trunked Maxtrac radios have their own RSS...reading them with conventional RSS gives exactly what you've found. The part# your looking for is RVN4043N...latest version is 5.07.01
Not that it'll help you though...the 2 sub/sys models were trunking only...no conventional channels.

No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

The nice thing about the Maxtrac is that after you blank the logic board, the conventional RSS will let you initialize the radio to your needs without requiring a matching codeplug file.
You will need to change the trunking firmware to conventional.
There is a lot of great Maxtrac conversion information on the repeater builder site.

OK, the 5172 is the expanded 5 pin board.
I have some with that setup that are 2ch. ( I think with the same eprom)
Ch 1 is trunking and ch2 is conventional.
So you may be able to do what you want with just trunking RSS.
(maxtracs.exe is the main file).
Or you can blank it, but you will need a conventional chip.

Yea it says under the radio config: Max Trunking Pers: 2
and then Max Conventional Pers: 0
So when I go ahead and try to add a conventional pers, it says something like the max conv. pers are already in. (there are none already in, because the max is already 0, which is the max). SO...unless I can change the Max Conventional Pers #, then I'm not sure what to do.

I don't think you're going to be able to add a conventional channel to those radios without re-initializing them to a different model or hacking the MDF file.
Model D35MQA5GB5BK is listed as a Privacy Plus 2 system, 2 subfleet, trunking only radio. Certainly the hardware supports other configurations. The firmware may as well. But the unmodified RSS won't let you add features that are not defined for that model.
