Still having a problem with a Maxtrac mobile.

Post by Elighting »

I have a Maxtrac mobile. It programs using the Radius software.I've had it where when you take the mic off the clip,it then monitors.I had it reprogrammed to add a PL tone to 1 channel and change the revert channel. When I got it back it stay's on monitor all the time, even with the mic on the grounded clip.It also will not scan, and acts like the mic is not on the clip(flashes and does not scan). What has been done to this? When I was at the Motorola dealer,he got on a screen that said handset on or off.Did this need to be turned to on?He said he didn't do anything, other than what I told him to do.

He also said that the Maxtrac series can not be made to where,if the mic is off the clip, the PL's are still activated.

We get terrible bleedover from the next county over if we do not use PL tones.Any help would be appreciated.Thank you.

Update: I did the mod inside the head,to connect pin 10 and 13 to make the radio think the mic is grounded.I put the radio in the truck and it still acts like there is no mic connected/grounded.What has happened to my radio? The radio guy(Motorol dealer),does not know what has happened(been years since he's dealt with these radios).kb9st told me there was an option, under the handset that needed to be changed to yes.I believe it was scan mic set or something like that. This has yet to fix it.Can anyone help with this?I'm almost willing to send this to someone that can get it back to how I need it.It seems like it's a simple fix,but is turning out to not be.

Thank you.
Jordan.

try making shure the ribbon cable feeding the head is seated correctly or isn't broke.

Maybe the radio shop technician used MaxTrac software on your MaxTrac, or used a different version than had been used in the past, so some options got lost or changed.

The "Handset" option is only supposed to control speaker muting when a handset is used. If set to "Y", the radio speaker will mute when the handset is off hook.

It is normally set to "N" and should not affect the off hook PL monitor function.

The 16 pin (or enhanced 5172 5 pin) logic will do "Off hook PL".
But if you have it hard wired, that should have done it.
You want the handset set to N unless you have the special handset.
I can fix it for you if you like.....

Have you tried pressing the monitor button to see if the led goes off?
It could be as simple as that.
