We have a few motorola xts2500 radios and are trying to set them up for data communications. I took a couple radios and connected them to my computer via a motorola serial cable. I changed the IP address data config and downloaded the new setup to the radios. After this the radios seem to be unable to connect to the computer again, via the cps or dial up. The radio turns on and seems to work fine on its own, but if i use the cps to connect to it I get any of 3 errors:
Open Radio Failed (ecec00a7)
Open Radio Failed (e400039e)
Radio Failed to Acknowledge (e4000386)
The last error is the most common and the same error shows even if I disconnect the cable from the radio. CPS is version R05.00.00. I have tried both radios with two different computers and two different cables with no change in results. Is there a way to clear the current config on a radio to see if that is the problem?
Any tips would be appreciated.
Cheers!

Corrupted Radios? Can no longer connect

I am not 100% sure of my info here because its been awhile since we encountered a similar problem with XTS5000's. I dont think the problem is in your XTS2500 radios. As I recall you have to go into your PC's device manager and disable the V.92 modem that for some strange reason gets configured for a com port which gets assigned during this communication process. Until that we did that no communications with the XTS was possible.
I know this sounds wacky but that is basicly what we encountered. Good luck and let us know if you have any success.....dan n2aym

Thanks for the reply dan. I tried what you suggested and disabled the modem, but I still can't connect to the radios. The radios worked the first time I connected them to the computer and between writing the new data to the radios and failing to read from them afterwards I didn't change any of my computer setup. Given this information I think the cps must have somehow written corrupt data of some sort into the radio. I have tried connecting to the 2 radios with 3 computers using 2 different cables. I have considered that using a new cps might help in some way. Does anyone know if there are any versions newer than R05.00.00? I have signed up for motorola's web site but they are taking their time activating my account.

Thanks Todd, once moto grants me an account I will try to get my hands on version 7, and I hope that will fix my problem. If not, is there a way to clear the ... cmos?.. of the xts2500 radio? I'm much more familiar with computers that with radios so I'm not sure how it stores the config. I'm a bit scared at the idea of opening the radio and trying to find a little battery saving the setup which could be removed (as I might do for a computer). I would probably piss myself with joy if someone told me something like "hold down 3 and 5 and turn it on" or something easy.

p.s. I tried the 3 and 5 thing which I just invented and it didn't work =(
