HELP CDM-1250 Quickmount Problems!!

Post by wbad1053 »

I am having some problems with the quickmounts for 3 cdm-1250's. Sometimes, apparantly random, when the vehicle is shut down, the heads power down, but the radio's are still on! They appear off except for the audio coming from all 3 radios. (vhf, uhf, low) Most of the time they all shut off, but sometimes like I said, they don't and it kills the battery. Any one with any help would be appriciated.

just a thought.....

having only used quickmounts a few times, id look at whether the quickmounts are ignition-switched, and whether you are using an ignition sense for the CDMs. If i remember correctly, when you turn the ignition off, the radios will remain on, but cutting the power to the quickmounts will just disable the heads and give the appearance of being off.

someone else described a problem like this to me, and it ended up appearing as an intermittent problem because, most likely, of the amount of radio traffic on the channel he left the radio on.

just something to look at.

also, are you using external speakers?

Are the radios and Quick mount all connected to the same switched A+ line ? Quick mount states that power should be on constantly to their unit, remove A+ from the radio via a switch (master). The last 3 new vehicles I have tried this on,1 fire truck and 2 ambulances, this set up will not work. I have to run switched A+ from the battery to both units and power them on at the same time. Quickmount stated that electrical surges can affect the micro processor in their unit which can cause erratic operation.
