Motorola Lapel Mic
I can't remeber if this was answered before or not, but I have a lapel mic model NTN5050A with a UHF stubby on it that I would like to use as a lowband lapel mic. Would this do any damage to the radio since it is well beyond the radio's bandsplit? I'd rather not remove the antenna and leave it exposed as I intend to use it in fireground applications.
You can't use the UHF antenna on low band, no. You will nuke the final in the transmitter. And even if it didn't, it wouldn't work worth a darn. And if you can find a low band antenna that fits the connector on that mic, it will be WAY too big to use in that manner.
Go find the correct mic, without the antenna, for that radio.
