Yagi Gamma Match - Up or Down?

Post by RESCUE161 »

Should the Gamma Match on a Yagi be pointed up or down? I have a Celwave UHF Yagi that I'm getting ready to install and don't want to jack it up. Thanks!

With a single yagi it shouldn't matter. When you stack 2 or more the direction only matters in that they should be the same so they are in phase rather than out of phase. If you are worried about water in the match you can seal it with silicone sealant. Hope this helps. John

It might not be an issue on a commercial antenna, but on my homebrew ones I always have the match below the element, so the birds don't sit on it. I figure the element is better able to handle the abuse.

Cool, well the Celwave bit the dust, so I have a better-shape DB Products antenna that I'll use until the parts for the Celwave come in (if they do).

Thanks guys!
