Saber SVA questions

Post by cophamguy »

1- Can I use it without an RF amp and just have the 6w output?

2. What happens if I have a VHF RF amp and insert/TX with a UHF Saber? I have both UHF and VHF Sabers. I suppose I could install a switch to turn the amo on/off....

3. is the mic interchangable with any other motorola radio (ie Maxtrac, Mcs2000, etc)

Thanks

1 - yep

2 - the same that would happen with transmitting a VHF radio into a UHF antenna: not much until you blow the finals

3 - the mic connector may be the same the wiring will be different

For #2 just get yourself a dual-band amp. I have a Mirage BD-35 and it works great. No worrying about making sure the right radio is in the SVA.

You can use a standard hand mic, one of the SVA's that i had came with a HMN1056D, which is also used on the Maxtrac.
