Motorola RIB other uses?
This is part motorola question part kenwood. Has anyone ever tried using a motorola rib and making a basic cable for kenwood programming? I know kenwoods typically have logic inside the the connector I was just wondering if the RIB would do the same thing and if anyone has done this do they have the schematics for the cables? thanks
I have not tried the Motorola RIB to Kenwood Radio Method but I have been Successful using a Kenwood Programmer I built to program Motorola Advisor and Advisor Gold pagers. The Kenwood programmers are easy to build I you have any knowledge of electrical components and mine cost under $10 to build.

Cool!
Thanks for pointing that out! I wonder if anyone's ever tried that with an E.F. Johnson rig...

Re: Vertex Cable to serve as a Motorola RIB?
This topic's a little old by the time of this post but if anyone's interested in talking about it..... like many others, my interest in operating the Motorola series is the ruggedness and reliability of the line, even within volunteer and amateur services.
Noting that this site has a circuit adaptor diagram for letting a Moto. RIB program a Vertex mobile, does it not stand that the opposite should work? That is, I've a Vertex cable that works fine and I'd like to use that to program my 50-W Spectra trunk-mount mobile. Granted, I could just work thru the diagrams found here, and wire backward until I find if it works or not. Has anyone ever actually tried this? Would like to keep the "magic smoke" from leaking out of the radio since they often don't work well after that stuff has escaped.
Tnx,
