The Systems Sabers are kind of funny with DTMF from the keypad.
First off, on the Zone screen, you'll see a column labelled "Phone revert channel". Normally it all defaults to 1. So if you're on any channel at all and you start banging out DTMF, it will transmit it on channel 1 in the Phone revert channel list (whatever that happens to be). Dumb, I know, but that's how it works.
So, for every channel you want to have live dialing on, you have to add that channel to the Phone revert list, and then in the Zone screen, choose that phone revert channel from the list.
Once you've got that setup, you have to press the "0" key on the keypad to enable the DTMF pad, and then dial away to your hearts content.
Hope this helps.

You can also avoid the phone revert channel by highlighting that area and setting it for NO REVERT, that will keep PHONE access available for all channels set in this manner.
I hate phone revert...it's a horrible setup the way the RSS assigns it, should be defaulted to NO REVERT and then made as a choice, not preconfigured.

When I access the screen for signalling, I set emergency revert to NO REVERT.
After carefully examining the phone revert listing.....there is no way to avoid this, you are stuck with 1-10 selections, which Circle-M decided was the best way, which it obviously is NOT!
To preassign only 10 channels where phone can be used if using 'revert', is lunacy.
Live dialing should always be left solely to the radio operator and not the radio.
Since I have no use for the phone option, save for DTMF control functions, and even then, I hardly use it.
Too bad I boneheaded and assumed emergency options for revert instead of phone....my bad!
