CDM Repeater Cross Band

Post by JD »

I have 2 CDM's set up as a mobil crossband repeater, VHF & UHF. It works great. I use the UHF on one channel only and set the VHf to scan and then use my portable uhf . I nave the NWS frequency in the VHF radio but not on the scan list. Whenever I take the VHF off of scan and scroll through the channels, as soon as I hit the NWS ,with a constant broadcast, the UHf CDM transmit, which it should, but I go to the next channel after or preceding the NWS channel, and the UHF radio stays on transmit. I am using a Motorola rick, I can not figure out why this is doing this. There is no signal being received. Any one else run into this?

CDM's

How old is the firmware in the CDM's? We had a big problem with crossbands locking up and Motorola finally figured out that there was a firmware glitch in the CDM's. Once we upgraded the firmware they work like a charm..

3 or 4 years old. How do you get the firm ware upgrade?

What radios do you own?: AM/FM

by going to a moto dealer who services the CDM lines, or who will do it for you. I believe it was something that it was not dropping the COR as it should all the time on scan.

Also found out that if the VHF is in scan and receiving a signal, if you hold the scan button down, which is programmmed for scan delete on long hold, the UHF gets locked in transmit. Only way to reset the radio is to turn it on and off. Definitely sounds like a firm ware issue.
