JPS Communications NFU-500

I can not find any information on the internet anywhere about the JPS Communications model NFU-500.

Has anyone ever heard of it and know where I can find information on this item? The unit is a rack mount and looks similar to the NRU-500.

The NFU-500 is a Notch Filter Unit and has been known to be found in Centracom Consols.

I too went searching on the internet for this NFU-500 number and came up with nothing.

I then went to the Raytheon JPS web page:

http://www.jps.com/ But could not find any thing about this Filter Unit.

From the little bit of information that you have posted, I believe you're looking for a 2175 Hz Audio Notch / Band Pass Filter Unit because what you mentioned about the /\/\ console.

As an alternative suggestion, why don't you try Midian Electronics for the Audio Notch / Band Pass Filter Unit. Here's their web page:

I have someone who might know where a manual is for the units. They were mounted in Centracom II consols, but I was told they were just located there but used in conjunction with some HF units they had.

I would have to say that all of the /\/\ Centracom II Tone Remote Control (TRC) Dispatch Consoles have the 2175 Hz Notch Filters and Band Pass Filter circuits built into them. It does not matter if the Dispatch Console is used for regular 2-Way Land Mobile Radio or MICOM High Frequency (2-30 MHz) Remote Base Station applications.

I was under the impression that you needed the Notch Filters to pick off the Dispatch Tx & Rx audio to feed audio recorders for a Public Safety system. Many of the /\/\ filters were using the older tunable inductors which will become more difficult to locate replacement in the future. /\/\ did go to the solid state hybrid circuit design in the early 1980s and eventually software programmable design by the 1990s.

This is why I provided the OEM of Midian as an alternative.
