Systems Saber low-quality Audio

Post by NSPD »

I have a Systems Saber III VHF that has pretty low-quality "tinny" audio, almost typical of a scanner. I've always heard that Systems Sabers were known for their superb audio quality. This happens on all channels, so it's not a channel-spcific audio setting.

Any idea as to what could cause this?

Try removing the radio from the housing, then remove the front shield. This will give you access to the speaker. Remove the speaker retainer and check the speaker for very small metal shavings. This is what usually causes the "tinny audio".
