MSR-2000 Voter question

Post by AdamB »

I have a MSR-2000 repeater using a Zetron 38A Controller; I would like to add reciver sites however looking over the Zetron specs I found out that their using a "Discriminator In" would I connect that up to the voter and run the TX audio lines from the voter to the "Discriminator In"?

Why are you using a Model 38?
Do you use multiple PL tones? If so the voter won't work.
If a single PL, you should dump the 38. Make the MSR2000 a repeater, add the comparator and voting cards.

MSR2000 Repeater with Option C269 Spectra-Tac

Post by Dan562 »

You'll need to configure tha station for 4-Wire and decide if you're going to use DC or TRC for the T1786B Spectra-Tac Comparator's Remote Keying function. If this is being used in a Public Safety System, I would recommend Tone Remote Control TRC for the simple fact that the STAC Comparator has an optional Tone Remote Module TRN6100 used for Console Priority. You will need the F1 PL Decoder Modules in the MSR2000 Repeater's card cage for system compatibility.

If purchasing a reconditioned / used (/\/\ No longer sells this Model brand new) T1786B STAC Comparator, make absolutely sure that the Signal Quality Modules TRN6091 are all the same version. Use either B or C / D versions but do not mix and match these modules because of voltage problems. The only difference between the C & D version is the C was manufactured by /\/\ and the D is manufactured by /\/\'s Outsource vendor, otherwise they are identical modules.

If you're required to purchase brand new equipment from /\/\ then you'll need to purchase a Q2981A 8 Channel Digitac Comparator with Option C175ADSP Console Priority to provide the TRC Keying function.

If price is an issue but the brand is not, then you may want to consider the Raytheon JPS Analog Comparator as this unit could be a replacement for the older /\/\ STAC Comparator Product.

Unfortunately using any voting system does not allow the use of multiple PL / CTCSS Tones.
