I know I have seen a discussion on here before about this,
but haven't been able to locate it yet. My question is what
is the max number of channels (modes) can be programmed
into the radio / S9000 head that is using zones? I also know
this sort of depends on which S9000 head you have.
Second question that goes with the first one, is how many
zones can be programmed? Again I think this goes hand in
hand with the max number of channels (modes) in the radio.
I believe I have the 1067 head if my memory serves me right.
Been a while since I have had the head off the dash of the
truck. Right now I have someplace about 110 modes and
15 zones in the radio.

Spectra VHF with S9000 contol head - how many channels / zon

128 channels, specs say 32 zones, though I've never had an opportunity to program more than 21 zones. Since you can assign a channel to any number of the allowed zones, the number of "modes" doesn't really have anything to do with the number of zones. If there are any restrictions to that according to the firmware/hardware/RSS combo you're dealing with, the RSS should tell you. In some cases, the RSS doesn't directly tell you that the selection is not allowed, it just leaves you with the impression everything is OK, but whatever function you selected/programmed/enabled just doesn't work.
Once all the requisite zones are programmed, I always add 1 additional zone to the list and assign every channel in the radio to that zone. That way, when in that zone, I can operate the radio as if it's not zone enabled. Sorta the best of both worlds.
