CDM1250 EEPROM CS ERROR

Post by Rayjk110 »

Hello. My CDM1250, durring middle of programming, had a EEPROM CS ERROR occour. OK, So, I programmed it again, and everything appeard to be OK, untill when flipping thru channels, they would become "UNPROGRAMMED".

When I try to write the radio, it makes the programming sound, and then the CPS Says Programming Failed. When I try to read the radio, it says "Image is corrupted. Checksum for R/W regoin failed. I do have the codeplug from when I last wrote it saved on the machine. What should I do???

Thanks,
Ray.

Ok, update.

After several change-outs on the 9V battery in the RIB and about 10 tries of writing the saved codeplug, I was able to revive the radio. :D

I had also read and saved the codeplug after reviving the radio. It appears to be working just fine, well, for now at least. Is there a possibility that it is gonna display the dreaded CS error once again (w/o read/writing it), or am I good to go and just check and double-check the programming next time to be safe?

Usually reprogramming the radio with saved data will fix that error as I've had it occur on one of my units once before.

Yep, that's what I did and it works exactly like it did before. Just took a few tries and a new battery.

i've had to do that with an ht1250 too and it solved the problem.

Occasionally, a good codeplug doesn't fix it, but in those cases I've been able to revive the radio with a firmware update. Depends on exactly where the CS (checksum) error actually resides I guess.

i have also seen greater success at fixing CS errors depending on how new the CPS was. I saw some CS errors that were unfixable with ver. 4.0,1 that were fixed first time w/ 6.0 and stuff

Has anyone out there experienced the CS error randomly coming back after sucessfull programming? I mean like, has it ever came back, oh let's say a week or two later, even if you didn't read/write it? Or is it safe to say that the radio is OK.

For mobiles, upgrade to R05.05.15 as per SRN1493.

CS EEPROM Error / HW EEPROM Error
After typical field operation, the radio may exhibit and indicate “CS EEPROM Error” or “HW EEPROM Error” on the display. Upon occurrence of this failure, the radio will no longer transmit or receive calls.
This issue is resolved with this new firmware release.

Gah....it just did it again. Turned off the radio to wire in a GM300 to the P/S, powered back on the CDM1250 and the error came back up again.....off to Moto it goes, I guess.
