Spectra Speaker model# help......thanks
my spectra has what looks like a reg. spectra speaker, w/ the rubber gasket that goes all around it....but, all other model numbers for the same item i have seen were hsn4018....this one has a model# of HSN6001B...?? Motorola parts catalog only describes it as "Speaker, Spectra, 3.2ohm" the common model number (HSN4018) i have usually seen is described as the reg. speaker for spectra's....also, mine feels quite a bit heavier then the other models...does anybody know more about this speaker part number?? on the outside it looks identical, except the weight of it.....thanks, david KD6RFS
They made 8 ohm and 3.2 ohm speakers for the Spectra. The radio will drive either one, but you'll get a lot more sound out of the 3.2 ohm speaker. They also called this the "high output" model. Better for noisy environments. The rubber gasketing meant it was weather-resistant, and for exposed (i.e. outdoor or open vehicle) use.

okay...so better for me then huh? i thought the 3.2ohm might be less loud....is that why my speaker feels "heavier" then the reg. hsn4018 ones? I have a 4018 connected to my yeasu radio in the car, it does not have the rubber gasket, but I have seen 4018 with the gasket also....and they do seem quiter then my hsn6001...i guess this one can also be used for motorcycle use too....thanks, David KD6RFS
