Motorola ht600e Areial question

hi i want to know the make of the areial connection for this radio as i want to connect an external areial to it ,i currently have a uhf stubby but want to remove that and use my external areial, could i just strip the areial down and solder the cable on to the uhf stubby or is there a connection i could buy to make it from bnc connection to the motorola connection ? or my other way of stripping the uhf stubby down, any help please ?

Nope... No adapter for the antenna connector on these. The antenna jack is called an MX, but it's like only connecting to the center conductor of the coax, there is no ground of shield connection which is why nobody makes a working adapter for the antenna connector.

What you need for an external antenna connection is to connect to the external antenna rf output available on the accessory jack. This has been discussed time and time again and the rf adapter that goes on the accessory jack is still available from Moto. It has what looks like a 3.5mm mono headphone jack on the top of it, to which a short piece of RG-174 with a SO-239 on one end and a 3.5mm mono plug on the other end plugs into.
