Minitor V two frequencu decode question

Post by adlertom »

Can the Minitor V be set up to decode a two tone sequence A/B on frequency 1, and a different two tone sequence C/D on frequency 2?

If the answer to the above is yes, can one of the frequency/tone sequence combinations have priority over the other?

In other words, if the pager is busy decoding C/D on frequency 2, and while this is occurring the A/B tone sequence is transmitted on frequency 1, would the pager be able to jump to frequency 1?

My gut tells me that this can't be done without using two separate pagers, but does anyone know for sure?

Tom-

Question 1 - yes, it can, as long as you have a 2-channel Min V. Mine does this.

Question 2 - No. However, the pager would only stop on channel 2 if it determined there was a tone set being transmitted... as soon as the tone set failed to match, the pager would go back to scan. Also, if there was voice on channel 2, the pager would scan on.

If you want 100% assured reception of tones on different channels, then yes, you need two pagers. However, in the real world, I've got quite a few Minitor Vs in the field doing tone alert on two channels (three or four tonesets per channel) on systems that stay fairly busy all the time and have had zero problems with missed pages.

Hmm, How about putting a NOAA channel in #2 for weather alert with the normal FD stuff in #1?

Will the constant carrier on the NOAA affect operation?
