putting a new crystal in a motorola minitor II

putting a new crystal in a motorola minitor II

I recently bought a Minitor casue my dept. changed to the new ones i was fond of the 2's so i bought a personal one as well. i need to put a crystal in it.. is it something i can do myself and if so..where do i put it and how do i do it.. pictures would be nice too! lol thanks!

You will need to adjust the crystal frequency when you install a new crystal. If this is a change from the frequency it was formerly on it will probably also need realignment. It requires a service monitor or similar test equipment to be done properly.

now i heard alot that crystals can just be "plugged in" is that true..without equipment?

In scanners, yes, in most professional equipment including the Minitor II, no. It will probaly be too far off frequency to work properly unless it is adjusted and the receiver will possibly need realignment on a frequency change.
