MaraTrac Clamshell Talkaround

Post by WB4GUD »

After studying the MaraTrac manual, I took a chance and added a SPST switch to my clamshell head and wired it to J1002. Whenyou short the pins, ground is placed on pin 6 of U1001 through a 10k resistor and the head beeps to tell you that something has happened. Removing the short causes the head to beep again. Unlike the HHCH and A7, you need a direct connect, not a momentary ground. The right way to do this is to order the associated parts from Motorola, but a mini toggle switch works just as well.

Correct, the DPDT switch is latching and used either as a A B or DIRECT switch per the jumper.

Adding a second switch gives you 8 modes bank A and 8 more bank B PLUS the DIRECT fuction on each mode. Too bad there is not an indicator for the Direct function.

But, only 1/2 the switch is used and a LED could be wired into the second side of the switch.
