8 Strikes and you're out

Post by EEnerd »

On an Advisor, I know you get 8 guesses on the programming password but is that a lifetime count, or it resets to 8 after you get it right one time?

After 8, it goes into "dead pager" mode, which has to be reset by sending the unit in for service. So, once you do your 8, you're toasted. That's how it is on the Elite, anyway... I believe it's the same on the old Advisor as well.

Ok so that's 8 in a lifetime. In other words, I put it in wrong one time, then get it right, I only have 7 screwups left...

I'm pretty sure that's correct. It's been a while... I make damn sure all of the Elites I buy do NOT have any sort of password, or have a known password - which gets disabled in short order.
