GM350 programming probs

Hi all,

I have 2 X Motorola UHF GM350's which I program from my laptop, without a problem via a USB to Serial cable.
The RSS reads and writes, no problem.

I got a third one recently but for some reason it refuses to be programmed. I had to get it done locally by a dealer.
I have tried to upload new codeplugs into the radio but error messages appear, saying 'unable to connect to radio' and then 'this version of rss not compatible with the codeplug' etc.

The radios not faulty, because the dealer was able to do it (for 50 quid!).
I would have thought that my RSS - the only version I could lay my hands on

would be able to program all GM350's?

I'd appreciate any help, because I don't fancy forking out every time for a frequency change.

we keep telling you guys this all the time, rss needs to be run in dos, not a dos screen under windows. find an older slower machine that has a real serial port and get rid of that usb adaptor and do it right, you could turn the radio into a brick doing it that way. concider yourself lucky you havn't already done that doing it under windows.

Well thanks, but thats not much help to me...

Why did they make a program that runs under windows, if it 'NEEDS' to be run in DOS?

It still doesn't answer my question - why is it, that TWO of the radios program OK, but the third won't.

I believe the later GM350 software was Windows based. For some reason, they adapted to a Windows standard overseas long before here in North America.

To the poster: Without knowing if the radio was programmed by a later version of software by the dealer, we can't really say if the problem was with your software, or hardware (ie: USB-serial converter).

They still referred to it as RSS up until the term "CPS" came out with the Waris series software...just like we do with MTR2000 and 1225 software.

Hi,

Did you try gm-950 RSS/DPS? These radios are look-alikes, and it's difficult to see the difference between the gm-350/gm-950.

It's even more difficult with the versions with the "handheldcontroller", could be a gm-350/gm-365/gm-950/gm-1200/gm-1200e. Typenumbers are hard to check, since most of them have european origin. MD433AD is one of the typenumbers, and it's hard to find it's specs. Nothing found on "the" Batlabs either.
