First- please pardon the double post, but i think the information warrents the double post. Mods, if you do not agree, feel free to remove one of the posts.

USE EXTREME CARE WHEN PROGRAMMING PORTABLES WITH THE ASTRO25 USB CABEL.... I had an 800Mhz XTS5000 attached to the USB programing cable, read and wrote the radio, when it rebooted, it auto afiliated (and there for transmited) The USB cable picked up this RF and fried the USB board on my lap top. Make sure your cables are no where near the antenna when programming an 800 that will start on a trucked channel.

Better yet, take the antenna off the portable! :)
