PUR 5000 900MHZ

Post by wilcox »

I have just been giving a 900MHZ PUR 5000 pager system can it be used in making a repeater? Can the code plug be reprogram to the ham band? If so what RXer would you put in this unit. I don't see any Duplxers any were in it. Is this a normal for the PUR 5000.

Thanks
Richard

The PURC5000 is usually just the transmitter pieces from an MSF5000. Most of the receiver is present except for the VCO and possibly the IF strip in the RF tray.

Being just a transmitter, there's no duplexer, and there might not even be a front end.

You could add an external receiver to it (something like a MaxTrac), a duplexer, and a controller and have a nice repeater.

What radios do you own?: Kenwood, Yaesu, ICOM, Motorola

Some of the PURC (MSF) 5000 stations have a Micor Link Receiver built in to them depending if your station came out of simulcast Paging system. And Bob's correct as for the option of Duplexers, they were never included on this product version.

If it is an analog station (model number is a JLB) it needs the R-1801 suitcase programmer to be programmed to 900 mhz amatuer.

Will the Motorola R-1800 program the PUR 5000? Is the program the same as the MSF5000 for programing the eprom?

The later versions of the MSF-5000 software (firmware?) for the
R-1801will support programming of the PURC stations.
