I thought Motorola Doesn't Make Pagers Anymore

Post by Johnny Galaga »

Where are all these people on eBay getting brand new CP1250's and Advisor Elites and selling them as sports pagers?

I know how to program the sports capcodes, but where are they getting the pagers?

Is there a way around CP1250 and Advisor Elite passwords?
Analog already is interoperable.

Well, they sold off their pager stuff (excluding the Minitors) to Unication, who began producing the Alpha Elite and a few others. Then, because of Motorola's brilliance, they decided to start selling pagers again - the Advisor 2 and LS355, specifically.

I suspect the stuff you're seeing on eBay is NOS.

I've not come across a good way to hack the passwords, other than trying the common ones. There are a few companies that supposedly can do it, however.

Well if you ever find out how to get rid of password in a CP1250 please let me know. I purchased one many years ago from TSR wireless. A few years later my employer changed paging companies and I wanted to keep my CP1250 pager. I sent it to Motorola to have it reprogrammed. They contacted me for the password. I called TSR who naturally refused to furnish the information as well as remove the password. Their response was, "why should we give ARCH our business"? At the time I could not understand this. Especially the part when the TSR guy kept telling me that it was his pager even though I had a receipt clearly indicating my $150 purchase. TSR is now long out of business and its still password protected. What a waste.
