HT1250

Post by jc29ems »

Hello all,
I am new to the programming field and currently have a new VHF HT1250 and I am wanting to program it. I have a couple questions hopefully people can answer.

- I have not yet purchased a programming cable, is it possible to setup the software entirely before getting a cable so once I purchase a cable I can just upload it to the radio?

- What is the latest version of the software out there and will it run on Windows XP?

- CPS R04.00.00 would this work on the radio? I was playing around with it and could not find a way to begin, it looked like the radio needed to be connected first.

First off, CPS 4.00.00 is ancient, and won't work for probably 95% of the radios out there. The latest version is 6.06.00, I believe, and is XP compatible.

You can certainly set-up the software before you get the programming cable, however if you want to play with it at all, you need a codeplug to read so you can look around through all the different screens. If doesn't have to match your radio exactly, if your intention is to just familiarize yourself with it. If your intention is to set it up to "pre-program" your radio, then you'll need an identical codeplug. Unfortunately, you cannot create a codeplug from scratch, so you'll have to post your model# and hopefully someone can send you one to use.

Do the ribless cables that are available, I've seen them on e-bay and other sites work for programming? I have been told that they do. I am talking about the cable that goes directly from the serial port of a computer right to the radio.

4.0 might not even work with your radio if it's a brand new radio. i can mail you a codeplug for a vhf 1250 and you can alter if for what you want and try it when you get your cable. you best bet is an oem rib box and cable.
