Jt1000
One of my Jt1000's has been acting wreird the last couple days. I am able to TX with no problems but some times I can't get anything from the speaker. If I push the button I has assigned as monitior It works great. This problem is on all channels and they are all set to CSQ and the problem is there even with the speaker mic. Like I said though I get all the audio if I push the monitior button so I know the speaker is still good. Has anyone ran across this?

i'd check the ribbon cable to the front case. when you are pushing the monitor button it could be making it make a contact again.

I checked the ribbonthis moring and every thing was making contact and tight. Now if I put the battery on normal the problem is still there, but if I kinda slam the battery on I get full audio out of the speaker and speaker mic. It does this with both OEM and after market batteries. Any ideas?

9 times out of 10, strange problems like that are result of poor solder on the board interconnect plugs (where the ribbon cable plugs in to connect the two boards). There were several bad runs of these, and are fairly easy to spot. Take a look at the connections...if they are slightly rounded & shiny, then they're ok. If they are dull and there's so little solder that the connection is flat, then it's a likely culprit.

I think I ended up with one of the bad ones. Is there an easy way to fix this. I still get the power on tone when the radio is turned on but sometimes no radio traffic until I slam the battery on, or press the monitor button. The flex is still in good shape and in there properly.

I have even put in a new codeplug and the problem is still there. When I can get the radio to pass audio, I can turn off the radio 3-4 times with out even moving the radio and then it goes back to no audio. Turn it back on and the radio will agian pass audio. Could the problem be with the volume pot?

Yes, those ones.kd6rfs wrote: or the black jumper "kinda looks like a spider, when removed and sitting on a table" that plugs in and out and connects the two boards together under the shield?

I tried a known good flex and speaker and volume control and still have the same problems. Also upon closer exam of the the solder of the boards, It looks ok. I just now had the radio one of the NOAA channels and it had no audio passing through the speaker. Then all the sudden while typing this the audio came back on. This really has me stumped.

I don't want to keep beating a dead horse here but, can I still send this radio to /\/\ to be fixed. Would to get this fixed before wildland fire season really takes off. I searched the board but couldn't get a answer to this.
