Moden 100 Encoder

Post by aaronp »

I'm looking for the wiring schematic for this encoder.
Which color wires do I hook up to what on my transmitter?

Also, it says that it is Tone Group 2
Can anyone tell me what freqs those are?

Any other info would be appreciated.

What radios do you own?: To many Motorola and Vertex

Well the groups can be found everywhere. In a search Engine type
Plectron Paging Codes or something like that and I'm sure you will find something.

My two bits worth:
The Moden 100 is Motorola's first synthesized desk top paginig encoder.
The circuits are very basic. I used to teach digital circuits with one of these.

I have the IC programmer for making code plugs, however the blanks have been NLA for about 20 years.

Paging format:
This is a Motorola QCll (Quick Call 2) paging encoder.
Tones:
The timing is for "Tone & Voice" pagers.
Group 2 tones:
0) 569.1
1) 600.9
2) 634.5
3) 669.9
4) 707.3
5) 746.8
6) 788.5
7) 832.5
8) 879.0
9) 928.1
(Don't ask me how the smiley face got in here!)
Wire colors:
I can give you the the Motorola color/ function, however you must open the unit to determine where the wires are connected, as there are several options.
Mike line: Brown / shield
PTT Green
PL Mon White.
yel/red speaker
Black= Ground

PC board connections:
mon=white
GND= chassis + DC ground
AUD out= paging tones output.+ mike audio if mike is connected to "MIC HI"
600 ohm, relay isolated
Page Ptt = grounds PTT during pageing tones + 10 second interval for dispatcher to talk.
If you want the encoder to drop the transmitter immediatly connect PTT to "Mute"
