M1225 External Speaker Questions

Hi all,

I'm trying to figure out the best way to run two external speakers from an M1225, one in the cab of a truck and one on the pump panel. Right now the radio is mounted in the cab using the internal speaker. Some people have requested an external speaker because they can't hear the internal one well enough. I'd also like to have a speaker on the pump panel.

My understanding is that in order to get the audio out of the accessory connector I'll have to disconnect the internal speaker, which shouldn't be too hard (if someone has a description of the jumper that would be great!). The Batlabs M1225 page says the radio is cranky if it doesn't get an 8 ohm speaker, which means I probably can't just parallel two 8 ohm external speakers and call it good. Has anyone tried that? Has it worked? My other thought is to put an amplified speaker on the pump panel with its own volume control, and feed it with the line level audio output from the accessory connector. Any thoughts on that technique?

Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

P.S. Can a 20 channel M1225 be channel steered from the accessory connector, or just the 4 channel version?

Two 8 ohm speakers in parallel would be 4 ohms, Now if you could wire two 4 ohm speakers in series or two 16 ohm speakers in parallel you would be set at 8 ohms.
