Need a quick answer (GM-300 Squealing)

Post by ANB_Medic »

Our FD has a GM-300 VHF on one of our pumpers. We ran a call today, and the radio took a crap. At low volume it works well, but when turned up to hear it over the siren, it lets out a squeal on rx. The squeal is like feedback except a deeper tone.

We're using the internal speaker at the moment, but could add an external one if it would fix the trouble.

Anyone seen this before?

Nevermind... I found a couple of threads on the subject with some suggested fixes. I'll try them out tomorrow.

Sorry for the wasted bandwidth. :)

Yep,, Microphonic VCO coil in the receiver. Also poor connections on the RF to Logic board connector.
