Battery gauge not working(HT1250) UPDATE!!

Post by SD70MAC »

I got a new aftermarket battery yesterday. When this battery is installed on my HT1250 or HT1250ls+ the battery gauge does not work. Is there something special in the MOTO battery that makes this work? I have grown to like this option because I can tell if I need to put an extra battery in my pocket.

Does your aftermarket battery do the samething if so what brands do and don't . Kendoo does not,but I must say that I use Kendoo batteries on all our HT/JT1000,MT2000,GP300/350 and all those are great!

Also has anyone taken apart an HT1550 programing battery to see what makes it work?

So far as I know, only the Motorola OEM batteries will allow the battery gauge to work.

I purchased an aftermarket battery for Garden State Battery about 9 months ago and the battery meter works with this one. Not only does the meter work but it outperforms the OEM battery hands down and i think it was only like $32. Also purchased one for my P1225 and the LED battery indicator works on it too. Some aftermarket companies may include the circuit and some may not, I guess.

On a somewhat related note, we puchased a large lot of batteries from Garden State late last year, and so far these are BY FAR THE BEST aftermarket batteries I have ever used. Excellent capacity retension, superior quality design, even the metal-spring belt clip is WAY better than Motorola's OEM POS. I highly recommend GSB batteries over anyone else's, even Multiplier and especially over Kendoo!

I'm also interested in hearing if anyone has cracked open and mapped out an HT1550 programming battery yet.

Thanks ,GSB does have good pricing. We have some other HT1250's that may need batteries before long so I will try GSB.

Battery Zone's work fine on the Waris and the meter works.
Great performance and life.

Battery gauge not working(HT1250)

Post by kato56 »

I made a mistake by trying to re-condition one of my moto batteries on a universal charger that has reconditioning capabilities, and after doing that, the battery gauge quit working.
Not sure what happened there, but I won't be doing that again.

Try upgrading the firmware, they have had a lot of issues with the battery meter due to firmware issues the latest version is 5.09.13
