I already know the answer to this (no), but I'll ask anyway.
I've got a Lithium Ion battery for my Waris radio. Problem is, I won't have a charger until next week, and the battery is dead.
Is there any safe way to use the standard NiCd charger? I've got both the rapid and slow rate chargers.
This would be a one time only emergency kinda thing.

Charger question...
If I had the problem I'd stick with an old battery on the radio
until the new charger arrived. I have a tri-chem Saber
charger but I can't find a Li-Ion battery for my Sabers. Where
did you get yours?

It's a Waris radio (HT1250 style), not a saber.
Although I know someone who picked up a really nice tri-chem Jedi/Saber charger on eBay for 50 bucks.
Actually, that's a thought. I use Jedi and Saber batteries...could I just use the tri-chem Jedi/Saber charger on my Waris battery? I know you can charge a NiCd Waris on a Jedi charger, so I would assume the same is true for the Lithuim Ion.

Yes, I understand what you're talking about, but I just
figured that if a guy made a Li Ion for one he might be making them for
others as well.
My charger, which I've been TOLD is a tri-chem, is a 7558, but nowhere
can I find any "official" Motorola references to it. I did find one blurb
that said the reason the slot is so "loose" is that it's actually made to
take two different radios' batteries and that there is some kind of spacer
used with the "thin" battery, which would be the Saber's battery. I do know
that the previous owner of my 7558 was the Feds, but that's about all.
So, I'm looking for info on the 7558 as to what exactly it is, as well as a
source for Li Ion Saber batteries.

I did see a 4400mahr Lithium/x battery prototype that was aimed at the PS Astro Saber market. It was in the short, 3.5" case.
I have a 1900mahr NiMh short battery that I use on my Astro Saber.
