2 Tone Decoding

Does anyone know how to decode the tones generated by a Zetron 2 tone encoder? Our zetron 4010 console has a whole bunch of tones and I do not know what I need to program into a minitor pager.

Two of the tones I type in are 105 and 102...

Those are the codes that I type in that transmit the 2 tone that opens the pager.

maybe I am not explaining this right. When we tone out for an ambulance call, I type in 105 into the Zetron console. This in turn sets off the tones, being one short tone and one long tone, what I believe is known as 2-tone. If it is a fire call then we enter 102 into the Zetron.

The Zetron 4010 paging formats are custom programed for the customer's application. You would need to check the programing for your console to see what tones and format are associated with what you enter on the console.

oh ok...I thought it was an industry standard for those three digit codes to associate with the two frequencies of the 2-tone

Unfortunately, generally no. A Motorola 3 digit cap code on a pager can be decoded to specific tones if you know code plan (tone group and format) in use.

The Zetron can be programmed to select any format (Plectron, QCII, etc) and tone combination and steer it to any transmitter controlled by the console so the user codes are specific to a particular system.

As previously mentioned, the Zetron encoder is custom programmable, but you might try this.

Motorola Pager Code 105: Tone A = 330.5 Hz Tone B = 433.7 Hz.

Motorola Pager Code 102: Tone A = 330.5 Hz Tone B = 368.5 Hz.

Plug that into a pager and see if it works.

But note that Zetron Series 4000 requires a leading digit to tell it which of the predefined formats the rest of the digits relate to. So, for instance, if this were a QC system and you had defined the QC format as format "1" for the Series 4000, then to page the unit with QC capcode 105 you'd have to punch in 1105 and press Page Send.

I want to say we are using a Plectron Encoder for our tones wiht in the 4010 console.

Google a manual for your Zetron encoder,go into programming mode and see what tone group it is programmed for,then look up your tones in the chart.

Can you record the tones off air?
If you can record them (use the mic on your computer and the sound recorder application).
Them use a program like Cool Edit to open up the recording. There is a frequency analyser. Look at each tone and determine frequency. look up the standard pager tone chart and find the closest tones.
