impres question

Post by Pat »

Just wondering if it's ok to leave the radio on while charging in the impres charger. I've searched some of the older posts and none of them have really answered it. I picked up an impres charger off of ebay but it didn't come with a manual.

I have never had a problem leaving any of my Saber or MTX series radios on in my Impres charger. Your milage may vary.

Ok, cool. Just wondering because it seems that the impres info on motorola's site hints that you can leave the radio on while charging. Just curious if that was true or not since I don't have the manual.

Forgot to add that I'm using an impres battery with at JT1000. Looks like the firmware is 1.20, so I guess I should get it flashed.

in the impres charger manual it says turn radio off while charging. I never have this problem because I have spare batteries and there is no need for the radio itself to ever see the charger.

the impres is SPECIFICALLY designed (when used with impres batteries) to allow leaving the radio in the charger (radio off) for an extended length of time without cooking the battery.....

i would agree doug, if it wasnt for the fact we are swapping batteries that have been cooked on impress chargers.

we could be using old firmware however

What radios do you own?: X9000 thru APX

I forgot where I say it in a manual, but the battery level should be at 90% (flashing green) first if you want to leave it on in the charger.

IMPRES manual clearly says the radio must be OFF before inserting it in the charger.

If you have lots of chargers you can buy the programmer off MOL for less than $200

RLN5671A IMPRES FLD PROGMR W/NA/LA PLUG
These arrive with no software so you need an MOL account to download the latest (free).

3.4 is is the current version
If you only have one or two chargers take them to your local MSS as they should have one but make sure they get 3.4 off MOL.

Unless you are going to use XTS2500 impress there is no need to upgrade from 3.3
