Speaker mics
I'm looking for a speaker mic for a VHF MTS2000-II. I've narrowed my choices down to the PSM and NMN6191, but I've heard that you can't use the PSM on the VHF model and that it can damage the radio. I've talked to people that are using them and very few have had problems. Can anyone shed a little more light on this for me? I've searched the board for more information but haven't come up with much.

- What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT
PS speaker/mics, etc.
PS speaker/mics have a straight cable so that an impedance
mismatch on the antenna cable doesn't occur which would be likely if you used a coiled cable with coax in it. They're most
often seen on 450 and 800 mHz radios but I've used them on
VHF Sabers (with the appropriate antenna installed) with no
problems for years.
Non PS units have no antenna coax in the cable so are able
to have a coiled cord. I personally prefer the straight cable
regardless of the band in use.
