I'm doing the two channel to 16 channel mod on my HT1000, and I'm having a Dickens of a time getting that strip of rubber out of the bottom of the knob so it can turn all the way around. I've been picking away at it with various tools, and most of the resulting damage has been to myself. It's really well bonded in there! Has anyone come up with a workable approach to this?

You could just ask for one in the for sale/wanted/trade forum, I'm sure if someone has a bunch to spare it could be mailed out for free in an envelope, but if it's that hard to take out the rubber (I've never tried it, I imagine it would be a pain) it may as well be worth it to just find a used one or new one.
Indeed...I've converted many HT1000 units, and it never even occured to me to try & modify the knob...just cut off the stopper on the radio, it's sooo much easier. The channel switch itself will limit you to the 16 positions, as it isn't continuous rotary.AEC wrote:I would just clip off the 'stop' on the housing and forget the knob, it's too pliable to cleanly nip off the tab.
