Havis-Shields Console Question [ADDED PICS!]
Does anyone know of a havis-shields console that would work in a 2003 Ford Ranger Edge? I do not have bucket seats. Instead of a factory console in the middle, there is a small seat with an arm rest that folds up and down depending on if someone needs to sit there. I know there is room for a console because I used to have a gamber johnson one installed but ended up selling it because I didn't like the design. Thanks!

Try Havis-Shields out. I had the enclosed console in my car for a while, and it was great. I live about 15 minutes away from them, and know Paul in sales. Look over the site, and give them a call.
Ok ok..sorry guys. How could I NOT post pictures on batlabs?!

I decided to mount the PA mic here because I don't use it as much as the radios and adding another mic holder on the console was just too much clutter.

I mounted the Yaesu body on the back just below the window. The stock speaker in the radio works great with it mounted in the back as pictured.
Other stuff...
The key switch above the yaesu keeps the siren in "park-kill" which disables the tones, but allows the lights to still work. Right now it controls only a headlight flasher. I have a strobe kit I'm going to install in the reverse lights once I receive it. The black button to the left of the key switch controls the manual part of the siren. It acts as the horn ring. I didn't see a reason to mess with my car's wiring.
That's about it. Let me know what you think.

At least you used a Yaesu.. LOL Seriously though, looks nice! I won't knock the CB, in some areas of the US it's still very popular to have one.
I replaced all my Motorola's with Yaesu in the last month, i now have a FT-8800R in the house along with my FT-847 and FRG-9600, and a FT-8900R in the mobile. I need to take some new pictures of the redo in the van, the console and so forth stayed the same but all the X9000's were replaced with the single quad band Yaesu.

Duct tape is like the force, it has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.

Ya exactly. The reason I use the CB is because most of my buddies around me have one and they're not hams. I love my Yaesu though..solid as a rock! I'd like to see some of those pics. I'm always up for looking at different ways people mount their radios. I'll be sure to look for the topic when you post some pics.
I should have a new post up in a day or so, the van is going in the shop tomorrow to get the a/c repaired. Good old GM compressor woes, they sure do crap out a lot from what i have read on the net.
