Impres - Battery data stored in the charger OR battery?

Post by Hightower »

Have one impres Li-Ion battery, and it operates just like it should in an impres charger. However, if I put the same battery in another impres charger it will not charge (yellow flashing fast)

Both impres chargers are identical - same firmware of 3.4.

Why would the impres battery charge fine in one charger, but not the other?

From whats happening, It gives me the impression that the battery marries itself to the charger, and the charger stores the batteries information. Say it ain't so :-?

No the data is stored in the battery. When it is plugged in it should tell the charger it's life story.
Are you sure on the flash of the second charger?

It ain't so. I've got a 6-position rack charger with displays at home, and I use two or three various single-unit chargers on the road. No problems.

It only make sense that the battery data is stored in the battery. Going to get another impres battery from a friend and see how that battery reacts.

thanks for the info

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

that info is in a chip in the battery. just like the ones for an ht1550, it even makes things in the radio work correctly like the battery guage and if you have the power level set to auto it will decrease transmit power if the battery is low to keep it from shutting off.
