MT1000 rack charger problem?

Post by 601 »

I have an MT1000 rack charger, model NTN5536A, the charger has a strange problem. Sometimes it works fine, charges normally, other times it just shuts itself down for no apparent reason. It will charge 2 or 3 batteries with no problem, the problem is more common when charging 5 or 6 batteries. Is there anything that I can check on the charger to see why it's shutting down, or is this a sign of me needing to get a better one?

Any help would be appreciated

Check the connector from the power supply to the circuit board for burned pins. This is a very common problem. We wire the supplies directly to the boards bypassing the problem once and for all.

Yep, i agree with GlennD on that one. Check the connections, you will either find scorched pins or they will be loose at least.

The only other thing that could be causing it is a bad power supply which could be replaced or you could just run the charger off a seperate external supply.
