Saber alignment

Post by 0rlando »

Do you need a service monitor to align a Saber, or just the right RIB/cables and RSS?

You need a service monitor, as well as the RIB, RSS and cables.

Procedure should be documented in the service manual at the very least, I'm sure there's a few people around here who have one in PDF format.

Thanks for the input -- I was wondering if it was something I could do myself since MSS in my area don't have Saber expertise.

Thanks,

A service monitor is needed as it it the only way to verify proper performance, band width, frequency stability and deviation for both transmit audio and PL/DPL deviation.

You can do the job with a signal generator and deviation meter and a SINAD meter, it's just far more tedious to perform the work.

You'll also need to check receiver sensitivity, power output and spectral purity, not to mention adjacent channel rejection.

I have the necessary equipment.

these guys
http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorol ... index.html

reference this manual link:
http://www.repeater-builder.com/motorol ... 4c05-a.pdf

along with a few other manuals, in fact the systems saber service manual.

Neither of these manuals give a tune up procedure. Just generic info on diagnostics.

Know of a reference manual that actually gives detailed instrucitons?

The guys that did the page above did a fantastic job, seems odd they'd leave off such an important manual?
