Anyone have a source for documentation on the Kenwood TK 240D ? I just received to units, and need to figure out what the feature list is, and a few other things...

- What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000
they're 24 channel VHF 5 watt/1 watt, I believe the 240D has both CTCSS and DCS standard. HAs priority scan, talkaround, selectable hi/low power and user selectable scan/add/delete.
IIRC they can be "field" programmed by removing a blind patch behind a display on the rear and shorting out a key contact. They are also PC programmable with DOS based RSS.
not bad radios, just not very rugged. the screws that secure the antenna jack have a tendency to come loose/off, especially if the user handles the radio by the antenna. The other "fatal" flaw is the placement of the logic board on the front cover which is a rather flimsy plastic, easy to damage if the radio gets dropped and the water resistance isn't that great, water can easily get into the radio despite the seals, usually the seal on the right side comes off (can be seen from outside as it's sandwiched between the front and rear chassis) and then it's downhill from there.
I would say they are good "light duty" radios. They do have good sounding transmit audio.
the UHF version is the TK-340D.

The views here are my own and do not represent those of anyone else or the company, the boss, his wife, his dog or distant relatives.
You can short out the key contact, or find someone that has the "top panel" off the amateur version for sale and install that, allowing a nice membrane type button to be installed on the back of the radio. Press and hold as you power up, and you're all set to program.MTS2000des wrote: IIRC they can be "field" programmed by removing a blind patch behind a display on the rear and shorting out a key contact. Does anyone by chance have a list of what the 15 features that can be modified are? I know #15 is your scan list, but I'm clueless other then that.
