MDC1200 versus PTT ID

Post by Bob KB1MNE »

I'm assuming someone here will know this offhand and I'll probably get a response here faster than waiting for our radio service guy to return his messages... ;)

Is a console with MDC1200 capable of reading a simple PTT ID?

If so, is there anything special that has to be done to add it to the system's alias tables?

Good question... County dispatch just did a complete changeover to all new VHF equipment. Offhand I don't know what (/\/\) system it is*. I'll have to wait to get in touch with the radio service guy to find out anyway...

*(Centracom comes to mind but no doubt that isn't specific enough...)

If it's a reasonably modern Centracom system, there shouldn't be any problem. Centracom consoles support all of MDC-1200's features, which include PTT ID, emergency ID, call alert etc.

The county dispatch centre will need list of which radios have which MDC-1200 IDs, which they just then need to enter into the console's database system.
