um...(again)...care to elaborate? What kind of system are you running? Requirements of use? Range? End users?

if you give people more information in your questions...someone might be a little more inclined to offer up information...

How much power do you need?

There's basically 3 models that will work for what you've listed: PM400, CDM1250 (you could go with the CDM1550 but there's no point other than peen factor), and the PM1500.

The PM400 costs about $70 less than the CDM1250, and has all of the features that you've listed.
Both come in 25W and 45W versions.
Both do MDC1200 encode/decode.
CDM1250 has a 14char display, PM400 has 8.

They are very similar radios, one is from the Radius line and the other from the Professional.

PM400 will do LTR trunking, CDM1250 won't.

I thought that the CDM1250 ls+ did LTR?

Anyways, with a basic, oh, mebey 3db+ gain vhf whip you should be able to make 20 miles simplex. I would go 45 w for that distance, though.

There is no such thing as a CDM1250LS+ :D only the CDM1550LS+ from that series will do trunking, and it will do either LTR or PassPort.

For 100W you're going to have to get a PM1500, you're really gonna have to bend over if you want one of those :D

And both the CDM1550LS+ and PM400 will do MDC1200 Encode/Decode, as noted previously.

Yes, PTT ID is a MDC1200 feature, so the PM400 will accomodate that (as well as Quik Call and Selective Call, but these features are useable in Conventional operation only)

List price on the PM1500 is $1800.

I am asking if I can read other MDC1200 id's on the pm400 like the cdm. It will be conventional.

None, really.

Use the same power connector as all moto mobiles usually do

Use the same standard mic/connection (ala maxtrac,gm300,cdm series)

It's a bit smaller in size, so it might heat up a bit faster than other radios on the heat sink if you plan to be talking for long periods of time at once, but that's about it.

I would also recommend the CM300 - 32 Ch, 25/45 w models, 136-174MHz VHF range. About $400 new. Does all MDC features. I believe the LCD is 8 characters.

OR....CM200 4 Ch, 25/45w models, 136-174, does MDC, but only a 1 character LED readout, so not real handy in decoding ID's.

My one concern is: Is the display for the pm400 smaller than the cdm?
