Need help programming Minitor III and IV pagers

Post by pokeycameron »

I am a newbie to programming pagers. My department has recently asked me to begin programming our current pagers. I purchased the equipment from Motorola, but find I have a few questions. When I called Motorola Tech Support, I did not get much help. I have read the pagers and saved the configurations as a backup. I have read the entire programming guide several times as well as all the help topics included in the paging software, but still have questions. Any help would be appreciated. We use VHF and use both single tone and dual tone pages. We currently use a Zetron Model 10A pager encoder to make pages. Some of my questions are what is the difference between the various coding options? What is the "C/S?" and what does it mean?

I am a computer literate person and have been unsuccessful at attaining basic information. Any help or references would be greatly appreciated.

The coding options are explained in the HELP menu if you press F1 while your cursor is highlighting the coding option field. For example, coding option R177 allows you to enter three tone frequencies A, B and C. Then, the pager will trip with an iterrupted alert tone if the pager receives a signal with either an A-B or C-B tone sequence.

If you select option 130 (which is quite common for Minitor II pagers, by the way) you can again enter in tones A, B and C. However, this will give you interrupted alert tone with A-B, a continuous alert tone with an A-C set and a group call function with a long tone C (8 sec. minimum) which gives a continuous alert beep.

I don't know what C/S means but it could be call scheme, call sequence, or something like that.
