I was transmitting the other day and the transmitter got stuck, so I turned off the control head, I turned it back on and now I get a FAIL 01/90. I tried to read the radio, I get the serial bus error. I also can't program a new codeplug. Any ideas?

- What radios do you own?: More than I can count
Another thing to try that sometimes works if the wiring is correct, is the keep trying to program the radio (hold down the enter key to "retry") unless you actually killed something.
I have found that this works 75% of the time after a codeplug had been corupted. Eventually while tring to program, the commands will get to the radio before the self reset...

a few more things to try.
put a diiferant control head on the radio and see if that works.
try a differant cable.
try another drawer unit.
if it turns out to be the drawer unit, it is most likely you erased the firmware chip, but do not worry if you did. they are easily replaced with a new one. if you do not have acces to a new chip, you can reprogram the old one and copy the firmware out of another radio.
