maratrac out of band

i have reprogramed a maratrac low band from 38 42 to 46 48 all working god but good output on 46mz about 80 w but only 8 at 48
any help would on this

What split radio is it?
Sound like you are running a mid-split above 42.
Read up at Batlabs;

If you have a low band Maratrac and want to figure out which split it is (without reading it with RSS), then open up the radio and look at which RF board is installed:

HLB4099 29.7-35.999 MHz
HLB4100 36-41.999 MHz
HLB4101 42-50 MHz

the frq that was in it when i got it was 39 mz
the rx is working good at 46 to 48 mz
but the output drops off by 50 % at 47mz
and 90 % at 48 mz
i dont ned the the 100 out just 15 to 20 watts would be good

the rf board is 4100a

You need a high split radio for proper operation then. You have a mid-split.
You kind of get what you get going out of band unless you want to start messing with the PA. You could get manuals and compare parts etc. But I advise against it. There are many high-split drawers available on ebay....

OK, i got it programmed, and got the TX and RX VCO up.... but according to my service monitor, i'm only getting ~134 mW out at 52.525 MHZ (I turned the power down using the RSS because my power supply is fairly small...only 15A, but i was getting 12W out when on frequency)....

The maxtrac PA coil numbers don't match the maratrac PA. anyone got some cross reference numbers for spreading the coils to increase power output??

Ken,

Here's how you fix it...

Buy a maratrac radio that is a range 3 unit.

Take the power amplifer board from that radio and put it in your radio.

While you are at it, transplant the two boards in the middle and you will have all of your problems solved. Sensitivity at 52.525 will be good and your power out will be at 100 watts.

Bottom line: You can't do what you are trying to do. You may as well sell what you have and buy the range three radio. To convert a range two is not worth the pain and time.
