CDM1550 display fading issue

CDM1550 display fading issue

I've got a CDM1550 that is in service in a desktop setting. It seems that the display of the digits on the display are faded compared to the other one that sits right next to it.

They are both about the same age....It's not the backlight, they are both doing about the same, but the actual channel name on the display. Quite hard to see.

I plan on switching the heads and seeing if that helps, but does anyone else have any troubleshooting ideas?
