Need help programming MTS2000 Smartzone

Post by fireman126 »

I have a radio that just needs a few more groups added but cannot figure out how to add them (it was programmed a few years ago). I am seeking someone that can give me some assistance.

You'll need System Keys to add groups to the trunking programming. The people who run your trunking system control who gets access to system keys fairly strictly.

Your best bet would be to find out where the other radios on that system get programmed, and get it done there. Nobody else can (legally) do it.

Thank you for your reply. I have been provided with system keys and all the other info that goes along with the program. I am just trying to add the groups myself but forgot how to do it. I may end up just paying the shop the $200 to write a new program (10 minutes worth of effort).

This message isn't clear about what the problem is.

If the problem is that the RSS or CPS won't let you modify the trunked personality, it is because you don't have a system key or haven't pointed your RSS/CPS to the location of that system key.

Assuming you do have a system key, you have to first go to the (or a) trunked personality for the system in question and add the proposed new talkgroup IDs to that personality. Then go to the zone screen and add channels pointing to that personality and those talkgroups.

okay, feel stupid now.....it was that I failed to add a new personality. I knew there was something I was forgetting but had a serious senior moment.

Thank you for the guidance!
